Information

Pembroke Welsh Corgi

Breed: Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Pet ID: 261067-06
Color: Red

Among the most agreeable of all small housedogs, the Pembroke Welsh Corgi is a strong, athletic, and lively little herder who is affectionate and companionable without being needy. They are one the world’s most popular herding breeds. At 10 to 12 inches at the shoulder and 27 to 30 pounds, a well-built male Pembroke presents a big dog in a small package. Short but powerful legs, muscular thighs, and a deep chest equip him for a hard day’s work. Built long and low, Pembrokes are surprisingly quick and agile. They can be red, sable, fawn, and black and tan, with or without white markings. The Pembroke is a bright, sensitive dog who enjoys play with his human family and responds well to training. As herders bred to move cattle, they are fearless and independent. They are vigilant watchdogs, with acute senses and a ‘big dog’ bark. Families who can meet their bold but kindly Pembroke’s need for activity and togetherness will never have a more loyal, loving pet.

Temperament & Family Fit

The Pembroke Welsh Corgi is an absolute delight for families, thanks to their affectionate nature and friendly demeanor. These little bundles of joy thrive on human companionship and are known to form strong bonds with both children and adults alike. Their playful spirits and gentle disposition make them wonderful companions for young kids, promoting a lively and loving atmosphere at home.

Energy & Exercise

<p Known for their moderate energy levels, Pembroke Corgis enjoy a mix of playtime and leisurely walks, making them perfect for apartment living. Despite their small size, they love to romp around and engage in stimulating activities, so regular exercise helps keep them happy and healthy. A daily adventure, whether it's a vigorous game of fetch or a stroll around the block, will satisfy this energetic little breed.

Care & Grooming

Caring for a Pembroke Corgi is relatively straightforward, thanks to their low shedding levels. They require grooming about once a month, which is great for busy families, but don’t let that fool you—regular brushing will keep their coat looking sharp and shiny. With a little love and attention, these pups will always look their best and be happy members of the household.

Training Notes

Training a Pembroke Corgi can be a joyful experience, as they are quite eager to learn and are generally very trainable. Their intelligence and desire to please make them quick learners, but their slight stubbornness can occasionally come into play. With positive reinforcement and consistent training methods, you’ll be well on your way to having a well-mannered companion who can show off some adorable tricks!
